Supporting MCF is Supporting Our Community
The more you give … the more we can give back.
In the years since MCF was created, it has funded projects of non- profit organizations in our community that benefit large numbers of McLean residents.
Historically, MCF challenge grants have done so much to enhance hour community and all it offers. MCF helped launch efforts to add a balcony to the Community Center's theatre and build a community hall so that the old one could house the McLean Project for the Arts. The historic church at Pleasant Grove and the farmhouse and environmental living center at the Claude Moore Colonial Farm were rebuilt with the help of MCF grants. McLean music groups, local PTAs, Little League and the Teen Center have also been grantees. Small buses or vans have been purchased for the Community Center, a nursing home, a day care center for underprivileged children and SHARE of McLean, Inc. MCF has helped the McLean Volunteer Fire Department buy new equipment and helped to build a bandstand and tot lot in McLean Central Park.
MCF has helped to fund projects of the McLean Land Conservancy, specifically aimed at the preservation of land and open space in the McLean community and recently launched the Vincent F. Callahan, Jr. Our Environment, Our Future Fund, directing donations to projects that enhance and protect our community’s environment. MCF gave a grant for a mobile computer lab for the students at the Franklin Sherman School and has helped to fund Ethics Days at Langley and McLean High Schools. One of MCF’s largest grants was a $50,000 contribution to the Clemyjontri Park project, where children with and without disabilities can play together and learn from each other.
The Foundation is looking for new avenues and opportunities to reach out to the community for benefactors and projects and is looking to expand our funding base through corporate contributions for our community causes. MCF hopes to participate in a meaningful way to the revitalization of downtown McLean in the coming years.
In short, as a donor to MCF your contributions will be put to use right here in your community … helping your neighbors, the beauty of our area, and serving worthy causes that make McLean a wonderful place to live, work and raise families. We hope you'll consider becoming a patron of MCF.
