MCLEAN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION JOINS CFC CHARITABLE CHOICES

MCF President Encourages Community Participants to Select #Chr(35)#7289

September 7, 2005 - McLean, VA - The McLean Community Foundation, charitable arm of the McLean Citizens Association, has won its place in the ranks of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) of the National Capital Area.

Debra Howard, MCF president who spearheaded the effort last year, remarked, "We're very excited that MCF can now offer this federal giving option to residents throughout the McLean, Great Falls and Falls Church areas. It's a great opportunity for federal workers to target annual charitable choices to their own local community. We're counting on our residents to select #Chr(35)#7289 in the coming weeks of the CFC."

MCF, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has distributed more than $900,000 to over 100 worthy endeavors in the forms of grants, challenge grants and seed money for civic projects that benefit the community. Over the past two years, MCF has funded two of its largest commitments: a $50,000 grant to Clemyjontri Park for children with and without disabilities and a $50,000 matching grant to the McLean Volunteer Fire Department for a new heavy duty squad vehicle.

For the past two years MCF has supported Langley High School's Ethics Day. In 2002, MCF funded the purchase of a used truck for SHARE to deliver food, furnishings and clothing to local families and provided funds for new recliners and sofas for seniors at the Alzheimer's Family Day Center. In years past, MCF awarded a matching grant for the construction of the gazebo in McLean's Central Park and funded computers for the home nurses at the Hospice of Northern Virginia.

More information about the MCF, including a complete list of grant projects, is available on the MCF web site at www.mcleancitizensfoundation.org.
