McLean Community Foundation News: Mark Milon joins the Board of Trustees; Mark Lowham and Joe Ruzzo join the Leadership Council
May 21, 2010 – McLean, VA - Pamela Danner, president of the MCF Board of Trustees, announced today new members of the McLean Community Foundation Board of Trustees and its Leadership Council.
"We're pleased to have Mark Milon join the Foundation Board and bring his talents to the important business of MCF. His professional background and volunteer work on past boards will be an asset to administering the Foundation and reaching out to new audiences."
Mark Milon has been a McLean resident since 1991. His family, wife Bara and two children, Colin and Hayley, have been active in McLean ever since. Since 1984, Mark has owned Milon and Associates, a real estate improvement and investment company. Mark was previously on the Boards of the McLean Little League, McLean-Great Falls Babe Ruth, and McLean Citizens Association. Mark's term will begin in June and be the first of two possible three year terms.
Remaining on the Board of Trustees for new terms will be Richard "Rip" Sullivan, an attorney with Reed Smith and current Vice President of MCF, and John Vogt, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Banking Officer at Chain Bridge Bank and Treasurer of the Foundation. Other Trustees include Gary Filerman, Toni MacAulay, Demetra Matthews, Adrienne Whyte and Carleen Wood-Thomas.
Danner also announced that Mark Lowham and Dr. Joe Ruzzo will join the Leadership Council of the McLean Community Foundation, effective immediately.
Mark Lowham, with West Group since 1989, is executive vice president responsible for strategic planning, leasing, sustainability, and other new business development initiatives. Mark was appointed by Governor Tim Kaine last year to the Board of Visitors of George Mason University. Mark is also a member of the Board of Directors of the INOVA Foundation, Virginia Opera, and the Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP), and serves on the Executive Committee of CharityWorks.
Dr. Joseph Ruzzo is founder and President of the Dental Group of Tysons, a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and Dentistry. Joe is a former Trustee of the Children's National Medical Center Foundation.

They are mainstays in our community and have made many significant contributions over the past two decades to McLean and Fairfax County. We look forward to their participation as we grow the Foundation."
The Leadership Council of the McLean Community Foundation was formed in 2008 to serve in an ad-hoc advisory capacity to the Board of Trustees. The Leadership Council members include Dan and Karen DuVal, former U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald, Debra Howard, William and Bobbie Kilberg, Elizabeth V. Lodal, and former U.S. Senator and Virginia Governor Charles Robb and Mrs. Lynda Johnson Robb.
The McLean Community Foundation (MCF) is a charitable organization providing grants to nonprofit organizations in the McLean Planning District and recently exceeded the one million dollar mark in grants to local community groups.
