MCF INCREASES GRANT CYCLES TO THREE TIMES A YEAR
Foundation hopes change will encourage more community groups to apply for funding
McLean, VA – April 17, 2009 - The McLean Community Foundation has been funding local community projects for 28 years. MCF recently created an opportunity for non-profit groups to apply for grant funding three times per year, instead of two. Now, a new grant “cycle” will occur in June for applications postmarked or delivered no later than June 1.
“This is a tough time for many non-profits. The Foundation’s Board of Trustees believes that we have a unique opportunity to support our community by considering grant applications more frequently,” said Adrienne Whyte, grants chair of the MCF. “We also hope that the additional grant cycle will encourage applications from more organizations with innovative proposals.”
MCF has been funding projects in the McLean community for nearly 30 years and is approaching the $1 million mark in grants to local non-profits. Schools, Clemyjontri Park, McLean Central Park, Share of McLean, and our local volunteer fire department have been among the recipients. The Foundation has its roots in the community and has a major presence through its support of projects that benefit McLean’s residents.
